Accessibility Testing Principles

We continuously test your application using the four core WCAG principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).

Perceivable:

– Text alternatives for non-text content (e.g., alt text, captions)
– Responsive, adaptable layouts
– Use of assistive technology compatibility

Operable:

 – Full keyboard navigation
– Time-adjustable interactions
– Avoid seizure-inducing content
– Logical focus order and easy navigation

Understandable:

– Clear language and readable content
– Predictable interface behavior
– Inline guidance for forms and input validation

Robust

– Support for assistive technologies
– Compatible with current and future user agents

Implementation Notes for Clients

Design Phase:

  • Ensure color schemes meet contrast ratio guidelines (minimum 4.5:1).

  • Choose accessible fonts and scalable layouts.

  • Use semantic HTML and ARIA roles where needed.

Development Phase:

  • Implement proper heading hierarchy (h1 to h6)

  • Ensure all interactive elements (buttons, links, forms) are keyboard accessible.

  • Use labels, alt tags, and ARIA attributes properly.

Testing & QA:

  • Manual testing using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)

  • Automated testing using tools like:
    axe-core, WAVE, Siteimprove, Lighthouse

  • Usability testing with real users with disabilities (recommended)

Accessibility Audits & Certification

  • Techtipsall offers third-party accessibility audits via certified partners.

  • Audits include:

    • Detailed issue reports with severity ranking

    • Fix recommendations and retesting

    • Final WCAG 2.2 AA or AAA compliance certificate

  • Audits are charged separately from development fees.

Special Considerations

  • Brand colors, fonts, or visual identity guidelines may sometimes conflict with accessibility standards. We provide consulting on how to adjust design for both branding and compliance.

  • Techtipsall does not guarantee compliance if post-delivery changes are made without review.
